The position is available immediately.\n\nThe position is funded through the recently awarded Genome Canada grant \u201cManaging Microbial Corrosion in Canadian Offshore &amp; Onshore Oil Production Operations\u201d (http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/news\/british-columbia\/genome-canada-funding-research-to-study-how-microbes-eat-away-at-pipelines\/article33279505\/), a four-year, $7 million effort that spans multiple academic and government institutions, and companies. The aim of this project is to use modeling, genomics, and experiments to quantify and mitigate the environmental and economic risks associated with MIC.\n\nThe postdoc will also coordinate efforts with database developers in computer science to develop database schemata that reflect the emerging ontology, and assist with the development of use cases that define how users will interact with the data.\n\nThe applicant must have a PhD and significant prior experience with ontology development, including collaborative development through engagement of multiple stakeholders in a given application domain. Experience with genomic and related \u2018multi-omic\u2019 datasets would be an asset.
